2026 Season Overview – Mavericks Enter the Premier Division
2026 marks a new chapter for the Louth Mavericks as the club steps into the AFI Premier Division, ready to test itself against the best teams in Irish American football.
The season began with a major statement win as the Mavericks defeated UCD 28–12, securing the program’s first ever Premier Division victory against one of the country’s perennial contenders. The momentum continued the following week with a strong home performance against the Cork Admirals, moving the Mavericks to 2–0. A third win followed with a 45–0 shutout of the UL Vikings, showcasing the strength of both sides of the ball and pushing the team to 3–0 early in the campaign.
The Mavericks’ next scheduled matchup against the Dublin Rebels was postponed and will be played at a later date.
As the season progresses, the focus remains the same: treating every game with the same level of preparation, discipline, and execution required to compete in Ireland’s top division. There are no easy weeks in the Premier Division, and the Mavericks have embraced that challenge.
Beyond the senior team, the entire club continues to move forward. The Women’s Flag team has begun its second Claddagh Bowl season, the Youth Kitted team is developing the next generation of players, and the Mixed Flag team continues building on last year’s success.
The Mavericks are also bringing the game closer to supporters by streaming all Senior matches live on the club’s YouTube channel.
The club is growing in numbers, standards, and ambition.
The direction remains clear — upward.
